“Crazy witch” is inspired by one of the nicknames Hilma used to be called from the locals in the Swedish island she was from. She was a medium and she believed her paintings were instructed by spirits. Who would it know the "crazy witch" will become the pioneer of abstract art.
For decades Kandinsky was "the pioneer of Abstract art", however, Hilma created this art in 1906 nearly a decade before him. In her own will, she arranged that her works of art should not be exhibited until twenty years after her death. A century later in 2018,
Hilma finally was "officially" recognized as the pioneer of abstract art.
